Multiple Shooting Attacks as #Jews Commemorate Biblical Purchase of Hebron @Times

By

“Abraham weighed out for Ephron the silver which he had named in the hearing of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, commercial standard. So Ephron’s field, which was in Machpelah, which faced Mamre, the field and cave which was in it, and all the trees which were in the field, that were within all the confines of its border, were deeded over to Abraham for a possession in the presence of the sons of Heth, before all who went in at the gate of his city.” (Genesis 23:17)
Three Israelis were injured in multiple shooting attacks as Jews gathered in Hebron to commemorate the biblical purchase of the Machpelah, the Cave of the Patriarchs, by Abraham.
A 16-year-old boy was seriously injured by a bullet to his upper body, and an 18-year-old boy was lightly injured in a shooting attack near the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron on Friday evening. The terrorist, a 16 year old Arab from Bani Na’im near Hebron, was arrested on Saturday and confessed to the attack.
Just after the attack on worshippers, an IDF soldier was injured in a shooting attack at a nearby checkpoint. Also on Friday evening, an Israeli was very seriously wounded in a shooting attack at the Beit Anun Junction near Hebron. It is unclear at this time whether all the incidents were perpetrated by the same Arab youth.
Hebron was packed with Jewish worshipers over the Sabbath as 4,000 people arrived at the site to commemorate reading the Torah portion describing the purchase of the land by Abraham in order to bury his wife, Sarah (Genesis 23:17).
Two weeks ago, UNESCO passed a resolution declaring the Temple Mount, Rachel’s Tomb, and the Cave of the Patriarchs to be Muslim sites under Muslim authority, criticizing Israel for prohibiting freedom of worship at the sites.
Also on Saturday, a terrorist named Bara’a Issa turned himself into the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah and admitted to stabbing an Israeli in the Binyamin region on Friday. Issa, an Israeli citizen, is a resident of East Jerusalem and a member of the al-Aqsa Martyr’s Brigade. He posted a video on social networks in which he claimed responsibility for the attack.
Friday evening, the IDF shot and killed an Arab rioter who tried to cross the border from Gaza into Israel. An IDF spokesperson told the press, “The forces called the perpetrators to halt, followed by warning shots in the air, and upon the suspects’ continued assault, forces fired toward a main instigator, confirming a hit.”
